Virgin Mobile is a major provider of mobile communications services within the UK, with more than four million customers. Virgin Mobile launched its operations as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in November 1999. As we are an MVNO, we operate a virtual network providing a broad range of mobile communications services to our customers over T-Mobile's network under our non-exclusive, minimum ten year term, telecommunications supply agreement with T-Mobile signed in January 2004.Since our inception, we have achieved a number of significant milestones. Within a year of our launch, we had over 500,000 customers, and by June 2001, we had over one million customers, making us the fastest major UK mobile communications provider to have achieved that milestone to date. On 29th April 2004 Virgin Mobile had reached more than four million customers. We believe that we have differentiated ourselves from our competitors by challenging market convention and implementing customer-friendly, first-to-market activities in the UK with a design-led, irreverent style.
Virgin Mobile employs more than 1,400 staff on four sites, Trowbridge, London, Daventry and Middlesbrough. It has been voted one of the top 50 places to work in Britain for two years running in an annual Financial Times survey. |
